Holiday Poem

Thank you for the memories, you grew

my love of karaoke and bread,

and I tried to shrink your blood sugar.

Thank you for the memories,

Disneyland was fun,

shortcuts into Space Mountain, electric lights, and

Donald Duck. But weren’t you supposed to pay?

I am so thankful for the memories,

even when it was up to me to make them.

And I was thankful when you’d at least call,

and when you stayed alive in spite of your sweet tooth

and that sour tongue.

But now it’s time for you to say grace, to beg

me to visit. To be thankful

to hear my voice.
