Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Tadros

Aly Tadros picked up investigative reporting over hundreds of OKCupid dates, where she developed a knack for asking hard questions like, “When were you going to tell me you were married?” Her work has been featured in The New York Times, XOJane, and Narratively, where she is also the Editorial Assistant. Her Twitter copy is OKAY.

Managing Editor Erika Peterson

Erika Peterson is a writer, reader, editor, and avid naptaker. A Bay Area native, she currently resides in Ridgewood, Queens, and can often be found buying and eating copious amounts of Nepalese momos or reading in her local bookstore cafe. While generally unaffected by rainy days or ill humor, she can occasionally find her love for large dogs to be slightly overwhelming.

Fiction Editor Kyle Millman

Kyle Millman is a writer who lives in New Jersey and attends The New School on the G.I. Bill, which is actually a pretty sweet deal. His work has appeared on Thought Catalog, but don’t read it. He was a medic in the army, and he picked The New School because he read somewhere once that Jack Kerouac went there.

Asst. Fiction Editor Chloe Colvard

Chloe is a self-proclaimed “Fake New Yorker” from Colorado. She still wonders why crosswalks are a suggestion, and how New York pigeons are so fearless. Chloe is the Assistant to the Fiction Editor at the 12th Street Journal, majoring in Creative Writing. She never has spare time, but when she does, she likes to paint and wander around second-hand stores (not at the same time). Her love of writing began when she would keep journals of all shapes and sizes, even the fuzzy kind that lock on the side. When Chloe was too young to physically write clearly, she’d tell her mom what to write in her journal for her. In her journals, she would often be making up stories about fictional life events and fictional boyfriends. Looking back at this, she obviously didn’t understand the concept of privacy, but she’s happy her life seemed more exciting than most toddlers. She still has a fictional boyfriend.

Nonfiction Editor Rachel Knox

Rachel Knox is originally from St. Petersburg, Florida and writes both fiction and nonfiction. She lives with her husband and 12-year old pit bull in Brooklyn. She hates the Yankees.

Asst. Nonfiction Editor Marcus Hijkoop

Marcus Hijkoop really would love to read your life story, provided it’s really good.

Blog and Interviews Editor Ilene Anders

Ilene Anders is a writer, artist, and self-proclaimed psychic. In her free time she can be found making jewelry, singing loudly, and trolling innocent males on dating apps. She also loves live jazz music, and lots of ballroom dancing. When drinking with Ilene she might refer to herself as a contrarian. She studies writing & design at The New School. Her spirit animal is a fox.

Social Media Editor Alina Martinez

Alina Martinez has the higest score on Just Dance 3’s “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'” and the lowest credit score possible. She takes after her TV Mother, Loreali Gilmore by talking way too fast and eating too much junk food. As a creative writing major, the social media editor of 12th street Journal and an avid Web MD vistor, Alina has self digaonsed herself with having arthritis and a Chipotle addiciton.

Faculty Adivsor Seth Graves

Seth Graves is delighted to serve as 12th Street’s faculty advisor. Seth is associate editor at Coldfront magazine. He’s also an alum of The New School’s Writing MFA program and a Ph.D. Candidate at CUNY, Graduate Center.
